The Huskies wrap up a busy week of competition this Saturday at Oviedo High School with the Seminole Athletic Conference tournament.

Weekly recap:

The Huskies finished in 13th place at last Saturday’s Ron Peters Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to Junior Zach Larison for finishing in 3rd place. We had a number of our wrestlers show improvement at this tournament and we definitely wrestled better at Lake Mary than at Lyman Holiday Invitational. Freshman Matt Munroe (113 lb.), sophomores Curtis “Scooter” Duren (152 lb.), Ethan Kaufmann (170 lb.), and junior Will Searcy were all close to qualifying for the medal rounds. Not surprisingly, the wrestlers who showed the most improvement were also the ones who consistently came to practice over the winter break. Their conditioning and technique never looked better.
This past Wednesday, the team went 2-0 in dual meet competition, defeating Pine Ridge 48-36 and Orlando University 48-28. Our dual meet record is 10-10 on the year.
As a team, we are happy, but not satisfied with our performance this week. As we head into the SAC tournament this week, we have a specific set of goals in mind:
1. Improve on last year’s 6th place finish and 2 medalists.
2. Everyone on the team wins at least one match and scores points for the team.
3. Wrestle at or above your seed.
4. Get the bonus: Win by pin, technical fall, or major decision.
