Congratulations to Matt Munroe and Chris Gomez on their 4th place finishes at this past Saturday’s JV State Tournament at Osceola High School. Our first and second year wrestlers got some great competition in and had the opportunity to wrestle in a 2 day IBT (individually bracketed tournament), many of which had never done so before.

This Week At A Glance:

We are entering our last week of competition. It’s going to be busy, but worth it! As the regular season winds down, it is imperative that the team remains focused on our team goals as well as their individual wrestling goals. Our seniors are wrapping up their scholastic wrestling career and hopefully their season doesn’t end with regret or wondering if they truly gave it all they had.

2:30: Weigh-ins

3:30: Quarter Finals

East: #1 Winter Springs v. #4 Lake Howell
East: #2 Hagerty v. #3 Oviedo
West: #1 Lyman v. #4 Lake Brantley
West: #2 Lake Mary v. #3 Seminole

5:00: Semi Finals/Consolation Round 1

6:30: Championship & Consolation Finals

Thursday (02.19.15): Dual Meet v. Winter Park (Senior Night)

We will be recognizing our seniors and their familes before our match against Winter Park: Zach Larison, Matt Ellis, Danny Angel, Gus Hussein, Josh Lopez, and Will Searcy. Please make plans to be there as these wrestlers compete in their last ever home dual meet. Senior recognition will start at 6:30 PM.

Friday (02.20.15): Training session at Osceola High School with Coach Javier Maldonado.
There is another collegiate wrestling program in Florida! Southeastern University (Lakeland) will add wrestling in 2015 and will compete at the NAIA level. Their new head coach, Javier Maldonado, has been an assistant coach at Osceola for years. He will conduct a training session Friday night from 6:00-8:00 pm with several of the state’s top programs. There will be live wrestling in addition to some top notch technique.

Saturday (02.21.15): AAU Duals Tournament at Osceola

Our club team, NVRSTOP Wrestling Club will head to Osceola to compete in the AAU Duals State Tournament. Wrestlers will get at least 2 matches, although they are welcome to stay as long as they want to wrestle as many matches as they would like.
