Huskies Win 2017 Rouse Invitational

Saturday December 9, 2017 – The Huskies hosted the 7th Annual Johnny Rouse Invitational, and for the first time in seven tries the Huskies ended the day undefeated and team champions.

Hagerty finished pool play without losing a match. In the first round the Huskies beat Olympia 72-6. Dylan Kohn, Marcus Patrick, Devin Kohn, Bo Perkins, Justin Segarra, and Nick Walker all recorded pins. Nathan Stewart, Dylan Kohn, Bo Perkins, Mason Perkins, Garet LaGrange, Justin Segarra, and Nick Walker each pinned while Ryan Rowland and Devin Kohn added Tech. Falls to beat University (Orange City) 67-6 in the 2nd round. In the 3rd round Huskies pinned 8 of 8 opponents, including pins by Michael DeZego, Dylan Kohn, Marcus Patrick, Lee Hoang, Devin Kohn, Ethan Lopez, Justin Segarra, and Nick Walker, beating New Smyrna Beach 78-0.

The finals pool began with Winter Springs beating Strawberry Crest 41-32. In the second round of the finals pool, Hagerty topped Strawberry Crest by a score of 60-18, setting up a championship finals dual between Hagerty and Winter Springs. Ryan Rowland, Micheal DeZego, Marcus Patrick, Lee Hoang, Devin Kohn, Justin Segarra, and Nick Walker each recorded pins agains Strawberry Crest. In the final dual of the night, Ryan Rowland, Dylan Kohn, Marcus Patrick, Mason Perkins, and Justin Segarra each pinned their opponents to lead the Huskies to their first tournament title in school history as Hagerty outwrestled Winter Springs 46-30.

Nick Walker was named outstanding wrestler by the coaches and captains. Nick finished the day 4-1 with four pins.

Friday Night the JV team also competed in the JV Johnny Rouse Quad Meet. The team went 2-0, defeating University (Orange City) and New Smyrna Beach.
