Another great season full of broken records and new accomplishments, none of which would have been possible with out the help and support of the entire program: wrestlers, parents, volunteers, and the support of our administration and booster club. 2016 Clash of the Titans
December 3, 2015 – In our first tournament of the season Hagerty finishes in 3rd place at the Clash of the Titans. With eight individual place-winners and two tournament champions, this was Hagerty’s best ever finish at the Clash.

Week 2:
2016 Johnny Rouse Invitational
December 10, 2016 – Hagerty hosted 9 teams in the 6th Annual Johnny Rouse Invitational. We finished our pool matches a perfect 4-0 to advance to the Championship Final. We competed against Winter Springs in the Championship Finals and it came down to the very last match. We tied Winter Springs, but eventually lost on criteria H according to the rulebook tie-breaker. Bo Perkins went 5-0 with four pins on the day to earn team MOW honors.

Week 3:
Defend the Den
December 14, 2016 – Hagerty hosted crosstown rival Oviedo to take on the Lions in the Husky Den. The Huskies topped the Lions 55-15. Den Defended!

43rd Annual Bill Scott Memorial Tournament
December 18-19, 2015 – Hagerty traveled to Lyman High School to compete against some of the top teams in the state. The Huskies wrestled well, placing seven wrestlers on the way to a 6th place finish.

Week 4:
Knockout Christmas Classic
December 29-30, 2016 – Eight Huskies competed in the toughest tournament in the Southeast, the Knockout Christmas Classic hosted by Osceola High School. Ryan Rowland (6th) was our only tournament place-winner, as Hagerty finished in 24th place.
Week 5:
Ron Peters Tournament of Champions
January 6-7, 2017 – Hagerty traveled to Lake Mary High School to compete in the Ron Peters Tournament of Champions. Hagerty would finish the tournament in 5th place with eight place-winners. This was a total team effort as twelve of our fourteen wrestlers scored team points.

Timber Creek Dual
January 12, 2017 – Hagerty played host to Timber Creek in a very exciting dual meet. The Huskies won five matches by pin, one technical fall, and an exciting overtime victory to come up with the victory. Final score Hagerty 41 – Timber Creek 31,
Milton-Winter Memorial Duals
January 13-14, 2017 – The Huskies went 7-1 on our way to a 4th place finish at the Milton-Winter Memorial Duals hosted by St. Cloud High School. Our only loss came in the final pool match to eventual tournament Champions, Freedom High School. Ryan Rowland, Ethan Woods, Oliver Hart, and Christian Gomez lead the way, each going undefeated on the weekend.

December 27-28, 2017 – Hagerty traveled to Palm Coast to compete in the 31st Annual Flagler Rotary Invitational. Lead by tournament champions Ethan Woods and Oliver Hart, the Huskies finished the tournament in 4th place with five individual place-winners.

Week 9:
2017 Seminole Athletic Conference Championships
February 4, 2017 – The 2017 SAC Championships were hosted by Winter Springs High School. The tournament would come down to the final match of the night. Hagerty would finish in 2nd place, a single point behind Conference Champions Winter Springs. It was a great tournament wrestled by both teams. The Huskies finished with ten place-winners, including a school record five Conference Champions!

Week 10:
Senior Night
February 10, 2016 – Hagerty honored seniors Matt Munroe and Christian Gomez as they competed in their last home dual meet of their high school careers. Both seniors won by pin to lead the Huskies to one final dual meet win.

2017 3A District 3 Championships
February 18, 2016 – Hagerty finished 2nd in the 3A District 3 Tournament for the 2nd time in as many years. The Huskies tied the school record with three Champions and finished with nine place-winners in total. Each of these place-winners advanced to the 3A Region 1 Championships, where they competed for a chance to qualify for the FHSAA State Championships.

Week 12:
2017 3A Region 1 Championships
February 24-25, 2017 – Hagerty traveled to Flagler Palm Coast High School to compete in the 2017 3A Region 1 Championships. The Huskies finished in 5th place, with two region champions, and five total state qualifiers, setting school season records for highest regional finish, most regional champions, and most state qualifiers.

Week 13:
2017 FHSAA 3A State Championships
March 3-4, 2017 – Five Huskies traveled to Kissimmee Silver Spurs Arena to compete at the FHSAA State Championships. Each wrestler scored points on our way to the first top ten finish in program history, capped off by our first state finalist, Ryan Rowland. We finished the tournament in 9th place with three of the five wrestlers making the podium.
106 – Ryan Rowland (2nd) beat three of the six state placers on his way to the first state finals appearance in school history. Rowland’s biggest match came in the quarterfinals where he would beat then undefeated Tyler Forrest to make the semifinals.
132 – Emauni Smithson (top 12) won his opening round matchup before losing to the eventual state champ in the quarter finals.
138 – Ethan Woods (4th) wrestled in arguably the toughest bracket at the state tournament. He would win his first two match to advance to the semifinals before losing to a 2x state champ Franco Valdez of Southwest Miami. Woods would battle back to the consolation finals to become our second state placer of the tournament.
152 – Oliver Hart (6th) entered the state tournament as an underdog, but won some very tough matches to land himself on the podium. Hart’s biggest match came in the blood round, down in the match and nearly put to his back, Hart came up with a huge reversal and eventual pin to earn a spot in the placing rounds.
285 – Christian Gomez (top 8) competed in stacked 285 lb. weight class. He started the tournament off with a huge upset win in overtime against Jordan Earle. Gomez scored a last second reversal and two-point nearfall to force overtime, where he would score the match winning takedown. The senior would fall one match short of the podium ending an impress run to complete his high school career.
